State College doctor sentenced

STATE COLLEGE – A State College doctor who recently had his license suspended for 30 months was sentenced Thursday. Kenneth Cherry Jr., who was accused of improperly prescribing controlled substances to a woman with whom he was having an affair, was sentenced to 18 months of probation and a day of community service on three misdemeanor charges of failing to keep proper records. Cherry, 58, an orthopedic surgeon at University Orthopedics Center in State College, had his license temporarily suspended July 10. Read More...

Free app allows tracking of 2019 cicada brood

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — You’ve probably heard by now that a massive swarm of 17-year cicadas are expected to emerge from the ground in parts of western Pennsylvania this spring. Well, where are they? Cicada experts have designed an app to answer just that. The free app is called Cicada Safari, and it allows users to track, photograph and map the interesting insects.
